The APIIT Team comprising of C.M.Tharanga Nuwan Chandrasekara, R.M.Isuru Uthpala Bandara Ranasinghe, Dushmantha Ranathunga, Samith Disal Sandanayake, P.G.G.T.C. Deshapriya, W.P.C.T Pulasthi, Chamath Silva emerged Runners- up at the Motorola Inter- University Enterprise Mobility Software Development Competition 2011 held recently. Organised by Motorola Solutions in collaboration with SLASSCOM for the second consecutive year, 16 Undergraduate teams from 12 universities from around the country took part in the completion to showcase their innovative applications in mobile software.

APIIT was the only private Higher Education Institution that secured a winning position at the competition. The winning APIIT team developed and presented their mobile solutions application 'Agri Techno'. The 2nd APIIT Team participating in this competition comprising of Melaka Atalugamage, Paul Sean Perumal, Shenal Pussegoda, Malith Isuru Dilanka, Dhammini Fernando also produced a commendable solution.
The awards ceremony was presided over by the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navarathna, whist Her Excellency Patricia Butenis, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives was the Guest of Honour. The competition was held from March 2011 - October 2011 during which a panel of judges selected the finalists from the 49 initial entries received. Events such as these serve to sharpen the innovative skills of Sri Lanka's IT Talent which has gained international recognition.
