This occasion was graced by many distinguished guests - the Principal Mrs. Priyanthi Seneviratne, the Director and Past Principal Dr (Mrs.) Goolbai Gunasekara, the Chief Guest Honourable Member of Parliament Mrs. Rosy Senanayake, Rotary Governor Rtn. PHF Gehan Siribardanne, District Interact Committee Chairperson Rtn. P. P. Ananda De Silva, District Interact Representative Int. P. P. Dinuka Sumithrarachchi and his committee; and other Rotarians, Rotaractors, parents, teachers, students and Interactors from other schools.

The Principal Mrs. Priyanthi Seneviratne addressed the audience on the importance of youngsters being aware of the need to serve those in their community without any expectation of reward or recognition. She commended Club members for all their achievements. The Director and former Principal Dr (Mrs.) Goolbai Gunasekara congratulated the members on all the awards they had won the previous year.

Chief Guest, Mrs. Rosy Senanayake enlightened the audience on the various situations faced by the country at present and praised the Interact Club for helping those in need , while at such a young age. She also mentioned the Rotarians' incredibly successful effort to eradicate polio from almost all countries.

The out-going president Kavinda Senewiratne recollected memories of his year as President and praised his dynamic committee, without whom his Interact journey would not have been so successful. He also thanked the staff advisor of ICAIS, Mrs. Sharon Rajendra for her extensive support, love and encouragement. He then introduced the incoming President Zafarali Ahmed, wished the entire board of 2011/12 all the best on their ventures.

President Zafarali Ahmed thanked those who had given him the privilege of being President of ICAIS and promised to take the Club to the next level. He then introduced the members of the new committee and handed out their badges to each one. It was a wonderful moment for those 16 youngsters, when they faced the audience, tall and proud, each one promising to do better than the best for Interact.

In commemoration of Children's Day, President Zafarali and his team donated 40 milk packets to the Nayakakanda Convent. Felicitations followed, where the members of different Interact Clubs congratulated the past committee on their incredible feats and wished the new board members good luck for the coming year. A vote of thanks concluded the ceremony and refreshments were served to the guests.

This important event marked the beginning of yet another Interact year, which promises to be a fulfilling one for all those involved.
