Bollywood creates sci-fi hit with ‘Ra-One’

Bollywood heart throb Shah Rukh Khan’s much awaited movie ‘Ra One’ will be released on October 26 at the Majestic cinema Colombo parallel to the international release.

Ceylon Theatres’ Majestic cinema will be one of the 4000 worldwide theatres to release the film with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu and German. It is also recorded as India’s most expensive film to date.

This science fiction superhero film written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles.

The film was made entirely Indian with an international production where Chinese-American actor Tom Wu plays a supporting role while South Indian superhero Rajinikanth makes a guest appearance.

Ra-One also has a song sung in Hindi by Akon. The chart hitt song ‘Chammak Challo’ sung by a Senegalese American R&B recording artiste has become quite a hit in India.

In addition top Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra too are making guest appearances in this film produced by Eros International with Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
In the movie Ra.one, Shah Rukh Khan portrays a Miami based software engineer named Shekhar, who as a video-game hero fights off his self-created techno-monster Ra One.

Ra- One story also flows into a situation wherein Shah Rukh Khan falls for Kareena Kapoor who plays the lead role opposite Shah Rukh as the mother of an 8-year-old whom he imagines is one sof the characters. Shah Rukh Khan’s character in the Ra.one story is known as G. One which stands for Good One.

Originally scheduled to be released in June and delayed due to extensive post-production problems, the film was finally set to have a worldwide opening ceremony during the Diwali weekend of October 26.
`Ra-One’ is imported to Sri Lanka by Aaiswariya Films togetehr with Naash Films and distributed by Cinema Entertainment (Pvt) Limited.
