Electric Peacock Festival – the inside scoop

Organizers of the Electric Peacock Festival (EPF) are ready to share their inside plans with the public after many months of logistics and operational planning, December 16-17 looks to promise an event unlike any Sri Lanka has ever seen before.

“Our shared model with Colombo Night Races is the Singaporean F1 Night Races, a mixture of fast paced action and insane musical beats, all thrown together in the middle of the city,” says Co-Founder of the Electric Peacock Festival, Tasha Marikkar,

Whose playing ?

The line up of international artists playing at this year’s Electric Peacock Festival include
Grammy Award winning Felix B of Basement Jaxx! Headlining the festival, Basement Jaxx is sure to make his set a spectacle!

The festival organisers are thrilled to bring Chicane to Sri Lanka considering his notable success with the single ‘Don’t Give Up’ and are looking forward to him performing ‘Chicane 2.0’ with a unique live percussion and vocals bringing the evening to life.

Other artists include BBC Radio 1 DJ Nihal, returning to Sri Lanka to spin his eclectic and innovative mix of Asian infused sounds. Nihal, born June 1 1971, to Sri Lankan parents, began his involvement in the music industry as a promoter of rap shows in his native Essex. By the time he was about to graduate he was signed to a major label, and since then he has been a music journalist having written for Asiana, Eastern Eye, The Face, Mixmag, Hip Hop Connection and even the Observer.

From using his experience of the record industry to help new artists to evolve, to helping to promote Asian music round the world Nihal will never stop doing what he loves and is thrilled to be returning to his ancestral home to help make it even more of a night to remember.

Awesome Venue

After many years, city goers are going to get the chance to see the beautiful Colombo Lighthouse in its fully restored glory. The Sri Lankan Navy have been exceptional partners in helping the Electric Peacock team to transform this into a fantastic festival venue. The Lighthouse Galley Café on Chaitiya Road will ensure that no festival attendee goes hungry or thirsty with affordable and delicious food and drinks!

What to expect

Set to take place on Friday December 16 in Fort. More specifically, the event will be held on Chaitiya Road, Colombo, right by the Colombo Lighthouse. The main entry point for Festival goers will be from the Galle Face Green roundabout. The Galle Road will be closed to the general public beyond the Taj Samudra Galle Face Green entrance. Only those attending the Electric Peacock Festival will be allowed to get beyond this point.

All Festival goers will be required to show their tickets to the Festival designated stewards and Traffic Police on duty at this point to enable them to proceed down Galle Face Road towards the designated parking zones for ticket holders. For this reason, the organizers suggest that you purchase your tickets before the event to make the journey easy and to ease congestion. In the event that you need to buy a ticket at the entrance you will be directed towards the ticket sale point but parking cannot be guaranteed as those with tickets will be given priority.
