Celebrating 120 years of the Royal College Union and the 175th anniversary of the college itself “Floreat” – entertained the audience with a musical line up that went from pop to Opera and more.
The show featured acts by Bathiya and Santhush and other local and international artistes.

“Floreat” which means “flourish”in Latin did live unto its meaning on the performing nights. The show which was scheduled to be held on January 9 t was postponed to January 16th and 17th at the Nelum Pukuna, Mahinda Rajapaksa Theater. The pop duo B&S recalled their early days of vocal training with Mary Anne David and much of it having centered around Classical and Operatic music the duo felt this the perfect time to put that training forward.

The show was a combination of different music styles which includd opera, baila, fusion and semi-classical and all who attained witnessed music from modern contemporary to opera. Bathiya, Santhush, Ashanthi, Randir, and Umaria performed in a different way than they usually do which took all of us plesently by surprise. Dushyanth and Nishani young Opera singers also guest appeared on the show.

Olga Sosnovskaya who is a well renowned opera singer performed at the show including popular Indian pop artist Reeni Mansata who is the first artist to properly fuse east and west musical styles. They both flourished the nights with unexplored realms of opera and western music and gave truly yet amazing performances.
