Trinity did the expected by scoring a fairly massive 54 points (4 Goals, 4 Tries, 2 Penalties) to 10 (2 Tries) win over St. Anthony’s in a rather one-sided game at Nittawela. The winners had romped to a 25-5 lead at the break.

Trinity played much better than they did against Science College, but it must be said, against less testing opposition. The back division was good and they held on to possession longer. Trinity also continued their superiority in the lines out. One matter of concern was the fact that the speedy three quarters did not get the ball quickly enough.
Number eight Ryle Madena made a fine run of about 40 meters, sold a couple of dummies and went over to open scoring in the seventh minute. A Karunatilleke penalty made it 10-0.
In the 16th minute, the Trinitians handled the ball beautifully and suddenly Lakshan Girihagama, playing in place of the injured skipper, broke through to touch down.
A try by winger Dharshana Udalagama and a penalty put over by Karunatilleke propelled the score to 25-0. But before that, hooker MY Ali went over the Anthonians after they had pinned the Trinitians down near the goal-line.
Early in the second half Madena caught a high ball, sprinted through and then off loaded to lock Randika Alwis who scored in the teeth of opposition.
Girihagama then scored twice in quick succession, as he used his speed and power to crash through. A break by Alwis, the ball taken over by Halique Wadood (the replacement scrum half) and finally Thisala Karunatilleke was on hand to put the finishing touches.
Centre Dhanushka Madusanka scored the second Antonian try to make the final tally 54-10.
The losers had a purple passage of play lasting around 7-8 minutes when they, terrier-like kept snapping at their opponents. However, once the status quo was restored, the winners continued their exciting style of play.
