Wesley dump the Kandy lads with apt

Wesley made mince meat of St. Sylvester’s as they outclassed them by 51 points to 7 in their Singer Under 20 Division 1B rugby encounter played at the Air Force ground in Ratmalana yesterday.
This was the second heavy defeated that the Sylvestrians underwent having lost to S. Thomas’ 43-7 in their first encounter played at Mt Lavinia last week.

Wesley having taken a convincing 36-7 lead at the breather accumulated their points through three goals and six tries to a try by St. Sylvester’s. Wesley began their try scoring spree through an unconverted try flanker Pathum Premaratne. They increased their lead from a try scored by wing three quarter Suhail Kuthubdeen with scrum half Rahul de Silva making the conversion.

Skipper and No 8 Kokila Sammandapperuma went over for Wesley’s third try with Rahul adding the extra points which was followed by a try by flanker Sithum Peiris and Rahul making no mistake with the conversion.

Wesley further extended the lead through skipper Sammandapperuma’s second try of the match before St. Sylvester’s reduced the lead with center Shehan Randeniya going over fro a try which was converted by D. Wijetilleke when the sides changed with Wesley leading 36-7.

The resumption saw the Wesleyites playing a relaxed game and in the process scored only three tries through second row Gavin Siegertz, skipper Sammandapperuma which was his third of the match and winger Viraj Nisansala with none of them being converted.Referee: A.C. Tennekoon
