The Sri Lanka Athletics Association (SLAA) is extremely busy these days with the fast approaching London Olympics.
The SLAA is set to hold its AGM on May 3 at the Olympic House at 10 am and already the posts of President and Assistant Secretary has been finalized. Major General Daya Ratnayake is set to be its new President.
Fourteen names have been nominated to the various posts and one has been rejected. The names of former athletes Susanthika Jayasinghe, Sugath Tillekeratne and Sunil Jayaweera are prominent amongst them.
Also vying for the other posts is Prema Pinnawela as General Secretary and Shamal Fernando
It has also been highlighted the International Athletic Federation (IAF) has been informed of the activities of the SLAA and they are waiting to see the outcome of the meeting. The Sports Minister when contacted said that the IAAF will be notified of the outcome of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association’s AGM after May 3. |
