This change comes at a time when CIRP is about to send its first batch of HND students to the University of Hertfordshire to complete their B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology. These students have studied at CIRP for one year and will be transferring to the second year. The recognition agreement between University of Hertfordshire (UH) gives the opportunity for CIRP HND students to enter either the second year or third year of the B.Sc. program based on the level of HND they have completed. Next year more students will be transferring to UH to enter the final year of the degree program.
New facility includes 4 fully air conditioned large lecture halls with multimedia facilities, a library with more than 2000 psychology titles, a counselling lab, a social psychology lab and a biopsychology lab. CIRP has also improved student facilities by increasing the size of the student lounge and adding a garden café for the benefit of the students.
First intake of students at the new premises has already begun and the programmes are scheduled to start in a couple of weeks. According to Dr.Janet Levalley, the Dean of the Institute’s school of psychology, CIRP has also improved the quality of teaching by recruiting more lecturers in full time and part time capacities. Currently the institute has 8 full time lecturers and more than 25 part time and visiting lecturers. Institute has networked with several foreign universities in terms of research and academic partnerships and as a result CIRP students have the opportunity in learning from lecturers from internationally recognized universities.
CIRP has worked hard for the last couple of years to promote psychology education in the country at many levels and one of the best examples is that it is providing lecturers to 6 leading schools in the country to teach London AL psychology. CIRP is also working with Ladies College Department of Vocational Studies to offer a joint diploma in child and organizational psychology. |
