There was fair demand at the Colombo Tea Auction this week where 6.20 million kg of tea were on offer of which 2.76 million kg of Low Grown Main Grades and 2.02 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
Fair demand at lower rates in Ex-Estate catalogues. Few Coloury Well- made Western BOPs were firm to dearer on special inquiry; others were irregular; below best and bottom were easier.
In the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues Select best BOP1/OP1s declined substantially, whilst best/improved below best varieties gained. Teas at the lower end were fully firm. Select best OP/OPAs declined, whilst best varieties declined further; others and poorer sorts maintained.
Select best Western BOPFs were firm to dearer; others declined Rs.50 and more. Hardly any Nuwara Eliya BOPs were on offer this week. BOPFs were irregular and easier. Udapussellawa BOPs were barely steady, BOPFs were lower. Uva BOP/BOPF were mostly lower this week. Better Medium BOPs were dearer; others irregular. BOPFs were generally firm. CTC BP1s were irregularly lower, whilst PF1s were lower up to Rs.50.(SD)
