Sri Lankan tea exports for the month of May 2023 totalled 20.55 M/Kgs, showing a gain of 0.83 M/Kgs compared to 19.72 M/Kgs of May 2022.
Tea in Bulk and Tea Bags have shown a marginal growth, whilst Tea Packets has recorded a marginal decline against the corresponding month of 2022, official sources said.
January-May 2023 cumulative exports totalled 90.80 M/Kgs, showing a decrease of 10.92 M/Kgs vis-à-vis 101.72 M/Kgs of January-May 2022.
Tea in Bulk and Packeted Tea continue to show negative variances, whilst the remaining product categories recorded a marginal increase.
FOB value for the period stood at Rs. 1,941.81, an increase of Rs. 739.75 vis-à-vis Rs.1,202.06 of January-May 2022.
