The Government has called a media conference tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss developments at debt-ridden SriLankan Airlines, which is up for sale partially and full management.
Public Enterprises Development Minister Kabir Hashim and his deputy, Eran Wickremaratne will jointly address the media on the latest situation pertaining to the national carrier at the ministry office at 1.30 pm. No other details were given in the ministry announcement however the national carrier has attracted some offers from overseas parties which are yet to be finalized.
The government has said it was looking at a partner which is either willing to manage the airline while also taking care of the huge debt or willing to listen to any other proposals. – (Duruthu)

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
