Entertainment

The RTC horse racing season culminated with the Magic Million Race Day held on Sunday 28th April.

A card of five races were lined up for the RTC Magic Million race day 2024. The first race for the day was for horses rated 00-20 with three horses competing for the Monara TV Campion Trophy. As ZULU FANTASY owned by Mr. and Mrs. Edwards and trained by S.D. Mahesh is in great form led the field from the gates and while negotiating the bend it stumbled, and fell. STORMONT was replaced by its regular jockey L. Ravi Kumar to P.S. Kaviraj who led the field and won very comfortably, KRABI settled for second place.

The second race of the day was for horses 40-60 running over a distance of 1400 metres with a field of four runners. QUEENS HALL was piloted by P. Vikram replacing its previous jockey Sai Kumar produced a neat effort to run a good second to stablemate FABULOUS SHOW who cleared its maiden for the season by winning the race. CRACK OF DAWN was ridden very feebly, totally contrary to its last run, settling behind the field and then making the run to third position with SANTOS filling the berth.

The third race of the day was for horses 20 - 40 with a small field of five runners for the Horcery Super Challenge Trophy. As usual GODSWORD being a very fast led the field and took an interesting race when it was challenged by STREET CAT ridden by P. Sai Kumar kept the mare going, ADMIRAL NELSON initially in the front position slowly went back and ran a third place with MYSTIC FLAME who is basically a long distance runner maintain its fourth position.

The fourth race of the day, the main event for the day RTC Magic Million Cup, a terms race was reduced to just four runners running over a distance of 1800 metres. ANOTHER ACE ridden by P. Sai Kumar led the field from start to finish but at the last strides of the race it was beaten by HERE AND NOW settling behind the leaders, improved from the 300 metres shifted very wide in the home straight but with Ravi Kumar strongly urgings, it won by small margin thus giving trainer S.D. Mahesh a good treble for the day.

The fifth race was a race for the local ponies with a field of six runners was won by NONIS owned by Mr M. Sudagar and ably ridden by Dhusiyanthan with CRIED FRIED last start winner taking second place and MAALI taking the third place.
