“The Dine for a Cause” gala 2024 presented by the Serendip Be The Change Foundation will be held on October 18 and 19 at the Maniumpathy boutique hotel in Colombo from 7 p.m. onwards.
Celebrity chef Deepesh Attupurath Chandra from Chennai’s renowned ‘Coffee?’ and ‘Bask by coffee’ will prepare the sumptuous menu.
The Serendip Be The Change Foundation was started in 2021 by Ms Poongkothai Chandrahasan. The foundation's mission is to let no child go to bed hungry or for no child to study while hungry.
The funds raised at the dinner will support the foundation's “Education without hunger” project that works to ensure that children are not hungry while they learn and grow.
The foundation has worked with 15 schools in Sri Lanka and helped the students organically cultivate carrots, beetroot, ladies' fingers, tomatoes and more which are then prepared in the school kitchens affording them a well-balanced meal.
The project was initiated in Jaffna but Ms. Chandrahasan hopes to take it to all districts in Sri Lanka.
