It’s Christmas time in the city and the Colombo Philharmonic Choir (CPC) presents ‘O Radiant Dawn’, celebrating the heart and soul of the festive season onWednesday, December 18, at 7.30 p.m. at Christ Church, Galle Face.
The programme for the evening will showcase a selection of Christmas choral masterpieces and traditional carols from around the world, highlighting works by renowned composers such as Ken Burton, Bob Chilcott, Randall Thompson,Morten Lauridsen, James MacMillan, and many others. With music spanning Spain, Germany, England, and the United States, this evening promises to be a
delightful journey through Christmas traditions and timeless melodies.
If you’re in the mood for more Christmas music, head to St. Mary’s Church Bambalapitiya for ‘Christ Chose a Manger’ – a programme of Christmas carols and readings presented by the St. Mary’s Choral Group. The programme will take place at 7.15 p.m. right after the evening mass at the church and begins with a Christmas Organ Fantasia played by Neomal de Alwis.
The Australia Sri Lanka Craft Expo 2024 will take place at the BMICH from December 20-22 at the Mihilaka Hall. Highlighting both Sri Lankan and Australian
craft, the expo will showcase patchwork quilts, dolls and hand-made embroidered
boxes done by veteran crafter Sriyani Tennekoon, as well as Sri Lankan artisans in
rural villages and Australian quilters.
The work of veteran artist Nadine David is now on show at the Paradise Road
Galleries in Colombo. Having trained under the legendary David Paynter, Nadine
is herself a renowned art teacher. The exhibition ‘A Song of Praise’ continues until January 8.
