Well known artist Kingsley Gunatillake’s latest exhibition at the Paradise Road. Saskia Fernando Gallery (PRSFG) at 41, Horton Place, Colombo 7 is entitled ‘Mara’. Gunatillake in his art and sculpture chooses to reinterpret the mythology surrounding Mara as an antagonist and present a more enlightened view. The exhibition is on until February 25.
The Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka’s public lecture this month is on ‘A Comparative Analysis of the Early Buddhism and Upanishad Philosophy’ by Yalith Wijesurendra on Monday, January 27 from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Council Room of the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka, No. 96 (Mahaweli Centre building, 1st Floor), Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7.
Professor Lionel Bentharage will deliver the Dr Roland de Silva Memorial Lecture (in Sinhala) on Thursday, January 30 at 6 p.m. at the Auditorium of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, No. 6, Independence Avenue, Colombo 7. His topic is ‘Rhythm of Dance that generates with music’.
