Ashanthi's ‘Hitha Danne Mithuranne’ released

Hitha Danne Mithuranne,’ composed by renowned signer Ashanthi de Alwis has been released to the public today.

The music video has been produced in a bid to create awareness among Sri Lankans on the health crisis of suicide.

The music video produced by Chamila Pathirana of Thaala Roopa Revolution features popular singer, rapper Randir with Drill team. The lyrics have been written and composed by Sampath Fernandopulle and Ken Lappen.

Commenting on the music video, Ashanthi said “The music video is carefully currated to address the crucial topic of suicide, to openly carry a positive message on how help those who are in a dangerous place struggling with problems”.

Coinciding with the World Suicide Prevention Day which is held on September 11, the music video was officially launched to the media on September 7 at the National Film Corporation, Colombo. The launched was graced by officials of The British Council and Mobitel.

The joint venture by The British Council and Mobitel focuses on creating awareness and assisting individuals to overcome depression. Counseling psychologist, Nivendra Uduman will conduct informative sessions which highlight the hidden truths and trends on suicide.

“These (suicidal) thoughts are mostly triggered by the reasons of isolation, financial hardships and relationship break-ups, especially among youth,” Nivendra explained.

Sri Lanka is currently listed among the top five countries with the highest suicide rate in the world.
