The third and final runway for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka of 2018 featured designs from the country’s apparel giants in the Industry Showcase.

The night commenced with the MAS range of lines, including MAS Linea Aqua’s tropical printed Exotic Wonder swimwear, MAS Kreeda’s #taggeneration millennial-friendly casualwear, MAS Fabrics’s activewear range in black offset by striking colours and MAS Intimates range of versatile pastel lingerie.
Vogue Tex was up next with Ying Yang, a boho chic collection in monochromatic black and white palette. RUMPUNCH mixed music festival vibes with punk rock in their Festive Traveler range, while Teejay brought the ‘Versatility’ with their breathable lightweight fabrics in statement black and white stripes mixed with colour.
Hirdaramani Knits featured ‘athleisure’ wear in predominantly holographic and glowing neon tones, and Hirdaramani Woven focused on upcycled denim, with design inspiration from worker uniforms. LICC Jeans continued with tropical and oriental influences for its Indigo Traveler collection.
House of Lonali in collaboration with Rainco presented Cityscape, a smart urbanwear range in greys and blacks with striking hints of acid yellow and other colours. Emjay International’s Travel Junkies collection, featuring local inspirations like colourful prints of Sri Lankan devil masks overlayed on versatile loungewear. 7N80E by Norlanka used Sri Lanka’s latitude and longitude coordinates as statement branding in their urbanwear collection, pairing utility colours with neon orange detailing.
The flexible ‘beach to bar’ concept came alive in Aqua Island’s Tactile Breezer range of tricoloured vacation wear in recycled materials. Moose Clothing Company rounded out the evening with their functional urban chic Fast Fashions and Casualwear collections. Versatility and functional wear was the overarching theme for the night, and will no doubt have a deep and immediate impact on local design trends.
