Black and white photographs of Colombo taken by Jatin Kampani were unveiled at Shangri La Colombo on the 5th of August. Guests flocked around the beautiful pictures tilled ‘The Dandelions of Colombo’ a photo essay by Jatin Kampani.
This event is a part of the Celebrate Colombo Festival, created and organised by Colombo Fashion Week for their ongoing Swim Week season.
The photo essay captures the diversity and beauty of Colombo, with its plethora of religious sites, cultural marvels and modern and old places.
Surprisingly, the breathtaking pictures were shot with a camera phone, showing all aspiring photographers that it isn't the equipment that makes the photographer. The photo exhibition will be showcased at Shangri La Hotel Colombo until the 12th of August for members of the public who wish to see it.
“Each of my photographs is what I call my dandelion moment: unexceptionally ordinary till you give in to them. Then you glimpse a Colombo that chuckles at your surprise in the face of such unsuspecting beauty and reflection. I invite you to come on journeys with me where you will live your unique story, even as we stand side by side. Perchance you will realize too that once you acknowledge the indomitable spirit of Colombo, the view is breathtaking from wherever you are.” says Jatin Kampani about his photo essay, ‘The Dandelions of Colombo’.
