Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe on Tuesday evening honoured several members of the cast and crew of two landmark artistic productions, namely Professor Ediriweera Sarachchandra’s “Maname” and Dr. Lester James Peiris’s Rekawa, both of which compete 60 years this year.
At a simple but charming event held at the Prime Minister’s official residence Temple Trees, invitees got the chance to go down memory lane with insights into some of the behind the scene events that were involved in the two productions as well as listen to popular songs from Maname and Rekawa.
Among those were honored were Director of Rekawa Dr. Lester James Peiris, singer Indrani Senaratne, Irangani Serasinghe and Mallika Pilapitiya as well as cast and crew of Maname who included Lionel Fernando who is at present the Chairman of the Tower Hall theatre Foundation, Pastor Peiris, Arthur Silva, Ananda Premakoon, and Nanda Abeywickrema.

The Colombo High Court today (28) sentenced former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment over charges of the involvement of an abduction.
In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
