The 6th edition of the French Spring Festival - that kicked off officially on June 14 will go on for a month. For this year’s festival, the French Embassy and the Alliance Française intend to bring the best of French modern culture, to an extended audience, in Colombo and Kandy, a statement from the organisers said.
The Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives welcomed the opening ceremony at the French Residence with nearly 200 guests. The highlight of the evening was the exhibition of the French photographer Marie-Caroline Senlisaccompanied by the sound of a Sri Lankan jazz band. Her exhibition “Mystic” is free and opened to all at the French Residence between the June 15 -18.
The Festival will begin with a DJ set of Sven Løve - the 17th of June at 41 Sugar- and the street art performance of Alber - the 17th of June in Kandy and the 19th and 20th in Colombo at the Alliance Française and Sugar Bistro & Wine (Odel). The Colombo High Court today (28) sentenced former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment over charges of the involvement of an abduction.
In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
