Incorporating Sri Lankan textiles and being inspired by the island’s delights Vibskov impresses with his refreshing designs. The silhouette of the collection were reminiscent of sculpted wind with its flowy look.

Under the theme of ‘Innovation Island’, Kúr presented a ‘BIZLEISURE’- a hybrid collection of travel wear for the empowered woman. Sri Lankan Beeralu lace takes centre stage in these designs as they bring in a classy elegance to a somewhat casual travel wear.

Drawing towards earthy tones and focusing on a minimalistic approach Fernandorochelles’ ‘Tradition in modernity’ simple yet stylish dresses seemed to be outfits ready to beat the tropical heat. By using pure linen the breathability of the clothing is ensured.

Raidha’s Maldive collection of androgynous clothing emphasises on Victorian greenhouse beehives as most materials used had the hexagonal design printed. Handwork, prints and embroidery fabric with lace trips and French lace were featured in the modest and western hijab and non-hijab silhouettes.

Season 1 by Common Folk was a harmony of colours as designers had used ombre fabric for their clothing leading to a picturesque medley on the runway with the warm bright shades used to the cooler calming ones.

Many other fashion designers also showcased their talents namely Ann Mendis, Tharshana Wijesinghe, Poornima Wijendra, Maheen Khan, Charini Suriyage, Ramona Oshini, Natalie Goonetilleke and brands ITR’by Khyati Pande, UDĀK, Linen Atelier and Upasana Design Studio.

Urban Island ended the evening with a curation of home-grown contemporary tropical travel style collections. From cotton handloom, linen batik to swimwear from Aqua Island, it was a sight to appreciate as the local influences were clearly highlighted in the items modelled.
