106 Lankans repatriated to home from Pakistan

106 Sri Lankans mainly comprising students, military officers and public servants were repatriated from pakistan through a special Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL 1205/6 which landed at BIA last evening, Sri Lankan High Commission in Islamabad said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sri Lanka's High Commission in Islamabad supported by the Consulate General in Karachi coordinated the repatriation arrangements with the guidance of the Presidential Secretariat and other Sri Lankan authorities.

The 106 Sri Lankans were in Pakistan for educational and training purposes and were unable to return home due to necessary entry/exit restrictions in Sri Lanka and Pakistan established to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Those repatriated include students from 12 universities and Sri Lankan Tri- Forces personnel who underwent training at various institutions across Pakistan and officers of the Central Bank of  Sri Lanka. All the returnees would undergo a two week quarantine process before proceeding to home.
