A total of 167 bills have been passed during the Ninth Parliament which commenced on August 20, 2020 and was dissolved on September 24, 2024 at midnight.
According to a media release issued by Parliament's Department of Communications, these bills comprised 146 Government Bills and 21 Private Members' Bills.
The breakdown of the bills that were passed are as follows: 2020 - 7 Government Bills, 2021 - 30 Government Bills, 2022 - 44 Government Bills, two Private Members' Bills, 2023 - 29 Government Bills and 5 Private Members' Bills, 2024 - 36 Government Bills and 14 Private Members' Bills.
Some of the more significant Acts that were passed by the Ninth Parliament included - Regulation of Election Expenditure Act No. 3 of 2023, Parliamentary Budget Office Act No. 6 of 2023, Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act No. 16 of 2023, Elections (Special Provisions) Act No. 21 of 2023, Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 28 of 2023, Online Security Act No. 9 of 2024, Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024, Women Empowerment Act No. 37 of 2024, Public Financial Management Act No. 44 of 2024 and The Economic Transformation Act No. 45.
