A total number of 180 Naval personnel have been tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) with 112 officers from the Welisara Navy camp and 68 others while on leave, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said today.
All tri- forces personnel who had gone on leave are now in the process of reporting back to their duty locations as per instructions given by the Defense authorities.
Meanwhile 58 family members of Navy personnel were directed to Mihintale and Nipuna Boossa Quarantine Centres (QC)for mandatory quarantining today . Another batch is to be directed to QCs for the same purpose during the day. As of now, 3141 persons are still in quarantine in 31 island-wide QCs, run by tri-forces.
