Twenty-five police officers whose postal vote applications for the presidential election had been rejected due to administrative errors will be allowed to vote on November 16.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the Valvettithurai Police Station in Jaffna had sent 54 applications on behalf of its officers to allow them to cast postal votes.
However, 43 of them had been rejected out of which 25 had been dismissed due to administrative errors of the police station.
SSP Gunasekara, said in a statement that the Special Investigation Unit at the Police Headquarters has launched an investigation into the matter.
The police officers whose applications had been rejected due to administrative errors will be granted leave from duty, to cast their vote during the election on November 16.
Postal voting – which sees public servants cast their votes, took place on November 4, 5, and 7 for police officers.
