A 48-hour trade union action was begun by Postal employees including post masters island-wide from midnight yesterday.
The decision was reached based on several issues including the post masters not being granted permanent employment over several years.
Accordign to reports trade union action was resorted due to failed talks between officials regarding their issues.
Postal services will be disrupted in 653 post offices and over 40 mail exchanges island wide due to the strike. All post offices will be closed as all post masters will join the strike adding postal counter services, transport, collection and distribution will come to a halt.
