A 70-year old man has been arrested for operating an illegal drug manufacturing lab in Kelaniya yesterday (Jul 9).
The arrest had been made during a raid carried out by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) along with Food and Drug Inspectors in Gampaha.
A large number of tramadol tablets had been seized during this raid, D.R.W. Bandara, a Food and Drug Inspector said.
He noted that expired tablets and nutritional supplements had been put on sale by displaying a fake labelling.
The suspect has been instructed to appear before the NMRA office today.
