A supervisor of the janitorial services unit at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has been arrested by Customs officials with 48 gold biscuits worth nearly Rs. 70 million hidden in his person.
Officers from the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs stationed at the BIA arrested the 25-year-old suspect at about 2.00am today while he was trying to leave the airport premises along with the 48 gold biscuits weighing 4.8 kilograms hidden in his person.
Initial investigations have found the recovered gold biscuits are worth nearly Rs. 70 million. The gold biscuits have been confiscated and further investigations are continuing.
