Live ammunition rounds were found in the possession of school children in Hasalaka yesterday.
According to Sri Lanka Police one of the children had discovered approximately 30 rounds of live ammunition in a wood shed in the neighbourhood and then shared it with friends.
The ammunition was discovered when one of the children in the group threw it into a stove at home, which resulted in an explosion.
Army, Police, and Scene of Crime Officers were called to the scene, and interrogations conducted were conducted.
The ammunition has been recovered from the children, and Hasalaka Police are conducting further investigations.
