National People's Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has sent a letter of demand to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Janaka Thissakutti Arachchi demanding Rs. 10 billion in damges for alleged false and defamatory remarks the latter had made regarding the NPP Leader during a public rally.
A letter of demand sent by Sunil Watagala, the NPP Leader's lawyer to Mr Thissakutti Arachchi alleges that he made false and defamatory remarks regarding the NPP leader during an SLPP rally held on August 19. Mr Thissakutti Arachchi had claimed that Mr Dissanayake had invested USD 5 billion in Malta.
The letter of demand has given the SLPP MP 14 days in which to pay the damages demanded by the NPP leader or face legal action.
