The Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha, states that Grade 10 children would be introduced to the Artificial Intelligence subject from next year onward.
The Minister announced this in a ceremony granting cooking equipment for selected schools with malnutrition in the Colombo zone, stating that Sri Lanka must aim for “educational transformation” beyond “educational reform” in accordance with UNESCO reports.
The Minister proposes training teachers as well into technology and extending this system into the entire University system through schools.
Artificial Intelligence is a function equipped into machines, granting the ability to possess human intelligence and cognitive functions such as learning and problem solving.
Meanwhile, in order to protect the youth, the Minister expects to prevent unsuitable food items and other material entering schools, by establishing a workshop for teachers, and utilizing these teachers as advisers, while obtaining the support of trained advisers in Divisional Secretariats.
