At least six elephants were killed and another elephant was injured after a train traveling from Batticaloa to Colombo collided with a herd of wild elephants in Gal Oya today morning.
The train was derailed.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
