Campaigning on behalf of candidates for the upcoming local elections inside government buildings has been prohibited, the Election Commission said today.
The Commission General Saman Ratnayake said that accordingly no campaigning is allowed in any government building including local government institutions, provincial council offices, state schools and Corporations.
He said distribution of handbills or notices and conducting meetings in these buildings will not be possible due to the prohibition.
Also the use of moveable or immoveable property belonging to the state too is prohibited,according to election laws.
