The carcasses of 12 Dolphins have been washed ashore close to the Wilpattu national park, the Warden of the park Suranga Ratnayake said today.
Each of the Dolphins were between eight to 10 feet.
One of the Dolphins which was fond struggling for its life was guided back into the midsea by the Navy.
Officials said they believe that the deaths may have been caused due to an illegal fishing activity where prohibited nets had been used.
However, a postmortem is due to be held.
