The Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has assured an uninterrupted power supply during Advanced Level examination from January 23 to February 17, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.
This was announced in the weekly Cabinet Briefing today (January 17) .
Minister Gunawardena said that a “long discussion” was held regarding the situation of electricity in the country with the Minister Wijesekara.
The Minister has been requested by the Ministry of Education to provide continuous power supply during the 14 days in which Advanced Level would be held.
However, it was highlighted that continuous supply requires Rs. 357 million per day and for the entire period of 14 days, Rs. 5 billion would be required.
“This is the reality of the issue of power in the country”, Mr. Gunawardena commented.
