The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has issued an order preventing any protests marches that obstruct the public and vehicular traffic by the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) from entering several areas in Colombo today (August 10).
The order was made following a request from the police.
The court order prohibits nine IUSF members including its convener Withanage Madushan Chandrajith, from entering the Presidential Secretariat, President’s House, the Prime Minister’s Office, Galle Face Green and few other locations in the vicinity in a manner obstructing the public and vehicular traffic.
The IUSF protest is being staged over a few demands, inclusive of taking a stand against authorizing three private universities to offer medical degrees, and issues connected to Labour Law, Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), and International Monetary Fund schemes.
