The debate on the no-confidence motion on Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella is likely to be delayed after the government and opposition failed to reach agreement on a date for the debate.
A government source claimed that they proposed holding the debate in Parliament this week during today's meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business but that the opposition was not agreeable.
The source said Leader of the House Minister Susil Premajayantha proposed to hold the debate on the no-confidence motion on Thursday (10), stating that Minister Rambukwella too was agreeable to hold the debate on that date. The opposition however, was not agreeable to this. There was also no agreement on holding the debate in the next sitting week either, claimed the source.
Attempts to contact Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara for comment failed.
