Dubai is no longer a safe destination for criminals to hide, a senior CID official said. Attesting to this, the Sri Lanka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and commitment of Interpol Abu Dhabi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Sri Lanka.
This appreciation was formally conveyed during a meeting between the Head of CID International Cooperation and DIG of the CID Rohan Premaratne and the UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Khaled Nasser AI Ameri, on August 29, 2024, at the UAE Embassy in Sri Lanka. The Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security of Sri Lanka, Mr Viyani Gunathilaka, was also in attendance.
With the collaboration of Interpol Abu Dhabi and the UAE Embassy in Sri Lanka, we have successfully detected, arrested and deported numerous high-profile criminals and drug traffickers from the UAE this year. The UAE officials have assured us of their continued support for these ongoing efforts ,” DIG of the CID Mr Premaratne said.
