Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne will likely miss the opening Test between Sri Lanka and England starting at Galle today (14) due to a finger injury.
It's learnt that Karunaratne suffered the injury during the second Test played against South Africa last month, and he has complained of pain during Sri Lanka's final practice session.
Sources further said that Karunaratne has initially complained of a pain on Tuesday.
Former skipper Dinesh Chandimal is most likely to lead the side in Karunaratne's absence.
Karunaratne was the only among Sri Lankan batsmen to score a century in the 2-match South African Test series in the second innings of the second match at The Wanderers, hitting 103 off 128 balls with an injured finger.
