Forged currency note printer arrested

A printing machine used to print forged currency notes has been detected by the Special Task Force (STF) in Mullaitivu.

A man involved in the printing of the notes has been arrested, STF said. 
 
The STF officers of the Mullaitivu camp had conducted a raid in the Devipuram area of Puthukkudiyiruppu, Mullaitivu, yesterday (March 9) where they arrested a 41 year old. 
 
The total amount was Rs. 3,500,000 from 700 Rs.5000 fake notes, seized with an AEPN 63190 Canon type colour printer, a Canon printer cable and a mobile phone. 
 
The suspect and the items seized were handed over to the Puthukkudiyiruppu Police, while a sword had been discovered in his residence in further investigations. 
 
Instead of many numbers, the notes only bear three numbers, where 370 notes bearing the number R/253 673053, 216 notes with the number R/ 200 655779 and 114 notes bearing the number R/247 444625.
