Former EPDP MP for the Wanni district Kulasingham Thleepan has been arrested in India for allegations of possessing a forged passport and trying to leave to Canada, officials said.
The former MP had travelled from Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu with his original local passport and thereafter obtained an Indian passport, officials said.
He is due to be produced in courts.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
