Construction of four storey buildings in Nuwara Eliya has been banned from the effect of May 1.
On April 11, a senior official told Timesonline that President has directed that a cabinet paper should be submitted to this effect in order to protect the scenic beauty of the town.
A cabinet decision to implement the Nuwara Eliya tourism development plan under the coordination of the Presidential Secretariat was also taken.
This decision seeks to cease the unorganized development observed in the Nuwara Eliya town, which is reducing the scenic beauty and impacting the tourism industry.
