The Election Commission today said it has reached agreement with the Government Printer, Police and the Power and Energy Ministry on making arrangements for the conduct of the Local Government elections.
The Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake in a statement said that the Government Printer has been told to provide the ballot papers required for the LG polls on April 25 within the next five days and the other ballot papers within the next 20 to 25 days..
The Government Printer has been advised to obtain the required funds from the Treasury Secretary keeping with the interim court given recently.
The Police have agreed to provide the required security to the Government Printer to go ahead with the printing arrangements. The Government Printer has been told to provide the required details of the security arrangements.
The Power and Energy Ministry and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has agreed to provide the required fuel for the Election Commission.
Mr Ratnayake said that the agreements were reached during discussions with officials representing the three sectors.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
