The Cabinet of Ministers green-lit strategic approval today (12) for the legislative draft tabled by the Legal Draftsman and presented to the ministerial cabinet by the President in his position as the Minister of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment for the purpose of setting up the National Women’s Commission.
Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers was granted previously to form an autonomous commission under the title of the ‘National Women’s Commission’ to deliver relevant guidance to the Parliament via the non-cabinet minister with the aim of arbitrating matters connected to exercising leadership for women’s rights and related activities of gender socialization.
Simultaneously, the Cabinet has also given the go-ahead to the proposed bill geared towards establishing essential legislative measures with the motive of promoting equality of gender socialization and women following a meeting held on September 5, 2022.
In the meantime, a war of words is transparent within Sri Lanka apropos to the equality of gender socialization where the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment is on the move of adopting measures to lessen the gender disparity of socialization, asserted the Department of Government Information (DGI).
