The Ministry of Education has issued guidelines to be followed in obtaining Vouchers for School Girls of selected schools to purchase Sanitary Napkins.
"These vouchers are issued based on the statistical information of the female students of the selected schools provided by the Statistics Division of the Ministry of Education" the Ministry said.
The Ministry said that the gift voucher is worth 1200 rupees, and they would receive it in two installments of 600 rupees each.
The issuance of sanitary pads for gift vouchers will be carried out through a specially prepared computer software application only by traders who have been registered under the Ministry of Education.
The vouchers will undergo a checking process from the Provincial Director, Zonal Director of Education and the Divisional Director of Education.
The sanitary napkins will be handed over to the Principals of the selected schools who will then hand them over to the class teachers to be distributed.
"The Principal's official stamp must be placed on the reserved place of the back of all Gift Vouchers received by the school" the Ministry said.
The Ministry has directed the Principals to inform the students to purchase the sanitary napkins within the period mentioned on the voucher.
