Health unions are awaiting a written assurance for a meeting next Monday before temporarily calling off the strike in the health sector.
Earlier today, all 72 leaders of Health Trade Unions met and agreed to continue the strike until their demands were met. However, shortly thereafter Minister of Health Dr Ramesh Pathirana agreed to meet the unions next Monday at 11 a.m at the Ministry of Health.
The unions are expecting a solution to their demands from the Ministry. President of the Public Health Inspector's Union, Upul Rohana, told Times Online that once written assurance of the meeting is received, they will call off the action.
