Currently, Batticaloa district and parts of the Southern Province including Hambantota district are experiencing heavy rains.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take precautions against potential lightning strikes during thundershowers, as the current atmospheric conditions favor afternoon heavy showers across most regions of the island.
