(UPDATE) - More rains have been predicted due to South-West monsoon conditions are gradually establishing across the island
The adverse weather conditions has displaced more than 32,000 persons as heavy rains were experienced in several parts of the country today, State Minister of Defence Pramaith Bandara Tennakoon said.
The Meteorological Department said cloudy skies can be expected over most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western Southern and Northern provinces.
Heavy showers above 100mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Mannar districts.
Several spells of showers will occur at North-central province as well.
In Puttalam heavy rains has inundated several homes, government offices and cultivated lands in the past three days.
In Ella, authorities were forced to close down the main Ella- Wellawaya road again due to possible landslides in the area.
