The Ministry of Higher Education has invited students or the public to submit complaints related to ragging to the Police hotline and WhatsApp numbers announced.
Accordingly complaints could be lodged to the hotline 1997 or messages could be submitted on WhatsApp to 076-5453454. Complaints could be also lodged to the University Grants Commission 0112 123700.
State Minister Suren Ragavan told a news conference today that currently as many as 57 students are serving a suspension of classes over ragging incidents. They relate to 36 complaints.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that after receiving complaints they would decide that the case would be investigated by the CID or entrusted to the local police for investigation.
